Some thoughts and discussions from me.
Some thoughts and discussions from me.
Good morning! I hope you had a lovely weekend. Ours was a little funny…
Because of the construction in our house, we stayed at a hotel Friday night, and then a friend’s house on Saturday night. Sunday we both worked all day, but we got in some play time, too, during Monday’s barbecue with friends, and my Saturday morning run with a couple friends.
The weather here has been awesome lately – especially in the mornings. It still gets up to high 80’s during the day, but in the mornings it starts in the upper 50’s, and is perfect for running.
Another fun addition to my runs lately has been my Timex IRONMAN ONE GPS+ watch!
[Tweet “Timex IRONMAN ONE GPS+ Review (& GIVEAWAY!!) via @TrainerPaige”]
Timex sent me their new gps and phone-free watch as part of a Fitfluential campaign, and……….I already love it.
I took it out for a test spin the other day on a casual run with some friends, and then several times since then, and found it to be convenient, useful, readable, and durable.
Convenience
The GPS+ is my new solution to not having to bring my phone with my on my runs. Before, I’d have to grab my waist pack thingy and stick my phone in there, which can sometimes make my shorts ride up or bounce around under my shirt.
You won’t need your phone with this watch because it:
a) allows you to send and receive text messages
b) allows you to make emergency calls
c) allows you to upload 1,000 songs onto it via bluetooth headphones
d) has live tracking so friends and family know exactly where you are (you can also send out an SOS if you’re in deep trouble)
In addition to using it during my runs, I’ve been wearing it while training clients on my busy days for in-case-of-emergency texts, as well as to utilizing the timer and stopwatch for while I’m training clients.
Usefulness
With instafix GPS, you can get your real-time pace and distance by looking down at your wrist. It also tracks split times so you can see your mileage splits, total miles run, time, and a summary.
You can also choose different workouts by clicking on the apps screen, then the workout icon, and then choosing from a run, interval run, timed run, distance run or a walk or a hike.
Plus, it uploads to Strava, which is cool because it seems everyone and their mother uses Strava here in Boulder.
Readable
Surprisingly, one of my favorite factors about the watch is the screen. You can tell Timex put a lot of time and energy into the design and concept to make it both user-friendly and visually appealing.
The side buttons work very intuitively with the touch screen, which makes it fun to play around as you jump from screen to screen.
But most impressive (to me) is how readable the screen is. Even in bright sunlight, you’re able to read the screen because it gets lighter when in direct sunlight.
Durable
The watch itself is rugged with the capability to be submerged under water up to 150 feet deep! It almost make me want to train for a tri…
All in all, I really find the Timex Ironman GPS ONE+ very handy. Shane, my super duper techy husband, even commented on how user-friendly the interface was (and he’s incredibly picky – shhh! don’t tell him I said that ;)) I’m actually planning on doing a fall race of some sort, and I plan to use it on my training runs.
OK guys…exciting part right here… Timex offered me a Timex IRONMAN GPS ONE+ to give away to one lucky reader!! And you guys. This is not a cheaply made nor cheap watch. It’s a solid, heavy duty, valued at $399-watch.

I will select a winner on Sunday night, and announce it in next Monday’s (9/14/15) post. If I don’t hear from the winner within 48 hours, I’ll draw another name. This giveaway is open to US residents only.

I hope you have a wonderful day, my friends! I’ll see you back here tomorrow with that stability ball workout.
Do you use a fitness watch or tracker while running or training?

I’m a runner, but I’m cutting back to increase yoga and pilates to work on flexibility and core strength!
My nutrition goal right now is to try to eat more intuitively and not rely on my food tracker so much.
My goal nutritionally is to trust myself in being able to read my body and not base my eating off of everyone else. My fitness goal is just to get better and better everyday through endurance, strength, and flexibility.

My goal right now is to get back into my old running speed. I have a half marathon in a few weeks and I will be really sad if I don’t run my usual speed.
WHAT?! How cool! Now that I’m back home and getting back into a semi-normal routine, I’m trying to get back into a consistent running routine again so I can start training for some longer races once again. This would be perfect to keep my motivation high!

I posted on Twitter. I have been so busy that I just haven’t made time for myself. I am ready to put me first and I want to start running again. This would be a very nice little “treat” 🙂
Goal is to reduce body fat to where I’ve been 18% without extremes. Nutritionally I know I need to find something that is more sustainable for myself. I typically can follow through with challenges for 3 to 6 weeks and then go off the wagon…
Tweet complete???? thanks for the opportunity!
This watch sounds incredible! I am just getting back into running after a skiing injury in March, so would love to use this as I get back into it 🙂
WOW! I didn’t know watches could do all that! I’m training for my 4th Half Marathon & my goal is to get faster & stronger. I’m incorporating strength training this time to help.

My fitness goal currently is a Marathon in 11 days and then a Half Marathon 6 days after that. I then want to work on a PR at my Half Marathon in October. Then I will focus on lifting and yoga for the winter.

My goal is to add more strength work into my workout program and cut back a bit on cardio!
My goal right now is to complete my 2nd half marathon in November. I’ve had some road blocks from injury to other health issues that have been in my way of training so for me to finish the half is my ultimate goal. Aside from that is getting back into my routine of working out. One step at a time though!

2.5 years ago, my last quarter of college (well my last quarter of my 6th year of college…in my defense I wound up with two degrees and two minors! 🙂 ) I decided I wanted to get back in shape, even more consistently than when I’d done seasonal sports 3/4 of the year in high school. Mission accomplished! I ran half marathons, and did had great fun with running groups and strength training with friends. For a while. But actually this very week a year ago, I started having some personal life struggles that have thrown me back to where I was my freshman year in college (aka, up nearly 30 pounds :-/ )
With my fiance coming back from deployment in December my current fitness goals are twofold:
1. Complete a 12 week 1/2 marathon training plan (goal of running the Seattle Half Marathon on Nov 29) and get back to where running was like flying to me.
2. Restore my body confidence before the Navy man comes home.
Thank you for this giveaway, Paige! I love your website and I have for years (both when I was working out consistently and even the past year, you’re attitude is inspiring!)

Consistently incorporating HIIT!
My current goal is to work on my functional training – I’d like to improve my push-up form and do unassisted pull-ups!
Right now I’m trying to regain some upper body strength after a shoulder injury.
One of my fitness goals is to increase my plank time and to gain more upper body strength. I’m using more weights and resistance bands now and I’m trying to get more toned without gaining bulk.

Sounds like a great tool!
My nutrition/goals right now are:
-Put the pie down! Eating far too much pizza (my only nutritional bad habit)
-getting back to balancing weights and running. I have a hard time balancing both. If I am training for a race, I am all about running and get in less x-training. When I am not racing, I am all about x-training and need to learn to fit in running!
My goal is more cleaner eating. Weekends are tough! But mainly I’ve started running and my fitness goal is greater endurance in running without taking a break.
My goal right now is to get more sleep! I am horrible about going to bed early enough!
My fitness goal is to lose 20 lbs
I shared on twitter
My current nutrition goal is to consistently reduce sugar. I’m trying to eat cleaner overall and I’ve officially kicked the soda habit. My fitness goal is to balance yoga workouts with lifting, cycling and running. I had surgery last winter and it’s been tough to rebuild my strength and stamina.
