Some thoughts and discussions from me.
…in my opinion, of course đ But – if you like your smoothies thick, creamy, and tasty, then I’m guessing you’ll agree, too!
Now that it’s almost summer time, I’ve been averaging a smoothie a day. I just love them. When I’m in a hurry or just want something cold and delicious to slurp, I pour it in a glass and slurp up with a straw. But for the most part, my smoothies are so thick that they need to be bowl status.
Plus, then you can go to town with your toppings to make it even tastier!
Every now and then I try some wild and crazy combination, but I always go back to the same 5 or so combo’s, and always the same starter smoothie formula.
The only exception to this formula is when I make my “frosty” smoothies, in which case I decrease the liquid by half, and add a cup of ice cubes.
OK – so on to the smoothies. And if you have a go-to smoothie that you deem “best” please leave a link to your recipe in the comments! I’m always game for smoothie experimentation.
The Strawberry Milkshake
A classic protein smoothie, if you ask me. It’s hard to go wrong with a thick, creamy protein smoothie that resembles a milkshake.
The Vanilla Frosty
TIP: Use a vanilla protein powder with a very distinct vanilla taste. I used Gnarly Nutrition’s Vicious Vanilla protein powder which has a very strong French Vanilla flavor, in my opinion. It’s the perfect protein powder for The Frosty.
Break for commercial: Gnarly Nutrition was the boot camp sponsor at Blend this year, and sent me a container of the Vicious Vanilla protein powder to review. The protein powder, along with all of the Gnarly Nutrition supplements, contains only clean ingredients, and is sweetened with stevia. Their protein powders are formulated with grass-fed whey powder from New Zealand cows. That alone is impressive, but they go one step further to include pre-and probiotics and digestive enzymes in their protein powders, too. It’s more of a super protein powder, in my opinion.
As far as taste goes, as I mentioned before, the vanilla flavor is strong. But it’s not so strong that it’s off-putting, in my opinion. I really like how it makes a vanilla protein shake taste that much more vanilla-y. Per serving there’s 180 calories, 3 grams of fat, 12 grams of carbohydrates, and 25 grams of protein.
Oh! And if you decide to grab some (the chocolate flavor is also delish!) make sure you use code:Â trainerpaige to get 25% off of your order!

The Horchata Bowl
I absolutely love vanilla + cinnamon together, but I like using coconut milk with the horchata bowl to give it even more flavor. Try this the next time you’re feeling adventurous with your smoothie!

Anything with chocolate is usually my favorite. Chocolate and banana is definitely high on my list!

My favorite lately has been a chocolate PB concoction using cocoa powder, protein powder, and powdered PB (or the real thing if I’m feeling frisky!). It’s soooo perfectly chocolatey!
And spinach. Always spinach.
These all look great! I love the texture…it looks so frothy and smooth!
