Some thoughts and discussions from me.
How’s that for a busy, multi-topic title? That’s kind of how this post is going to go, too. A little bit of everything!
I’m pretty sure Shane and I missed the Cinco de Mayo memo. Wait. No, I take that back. When I gave him the choice of burgers or tacos for dinner, he chose tacos, so there was some festivity involved yesterday:
Seriously though, by yesterday all I wanted to do was catch up on life, catch up on my online client work, catch up on housework, catch up on Housewives, and walk my dog. We partied pretty much all of the days surrounding the fiesta, but left yesterday for church, catch up work, and cleaning. Lately weekend have been jam packed with tons o’ fun, and I absolutely 100% wouldn’t have it any other way. I love the close friends we’ve made and the fun we’re having. But – I also like to have a day to decompress. And I usually like that day to be Sunday. Even if I do have some extra free time on my hands Mon-Fri, I feel like I need to be super productive at least 8 hours of those days in order to feel like a society-contributing human being.
So yah. We split out cinco de mayo fun into tres, quarto, and seis de mayo (because of food truck festival tonight!)
In fact, I even turned down a hike invite to get ish done – a rarity for me! It hurt a little to say no, too, especially because it was this hike…
Royal Arch! One of my faves. Soon enough. All is well anyway, because I got my fair share of hiking in with my buddies, Lauren and Natalie on Saturday.
Us at the summit, woop woop!
Lauren’s hubby, Greg, had never hiked Mount Sanitas before, so we headed back to do the beautiful, rocky, 3.2 mile hike. It’s one of my favorites, and I always spot something new, so I was perfectly happy hiking here
I have a weird affinity for fallen trees.
We went the opposite way (it’s a loop) than I usually do, and it really made the time just speed by! That, plus I think Lauren, Nat, and I were chatting nonstop. I love getting together with other bloggers because we already have so much in common and so much to talk about! When we finished the loop, the fun continued at Boulder’s Farmer’s Market.
I’d actually never been before, and now I’m not quite sure why. It was HUGE! I got some farm fresh eggs, some supposedly extra sweet spinach, and lunch, which was a pupusa, which I got because the name sounded much more fun than tamale, which turned out to be the best thing I’d ever eaten, which I did not snap a picture of because I inhaled it at this point. I did, however, snap a picture of us girls just hanging out in the park enjoying our mountain view picnic.
Actually, Collin, Natalie’s husband snapped the picture. I just cheesed.
We parted ways and I came home to get ready for the second part of the day’s festivities. Shane and I met our buddies, David and Katie at our favorite place, Comida for dinner before going to see Iron Man 3. This was only about 3 hours after lunch, but David and I ended up splitting the chicken dinner, which was HUGE and seriously delicious. Then we all got tres leche for dessert:
See? More pre-cinco de mayo celebrations. Shane and I split this, and we were going spoon to spoon for those last couple bites. I swear, even if I have no interest in dessert, give me something to share with someone and all of the sudden I turn into a fiend. Then we grabbed another friend and saw Iron Man 3 in IMAX 3D, which was really cool. The movie was super good – much better than I thought – and I actually liked the 3D part of it this time. Usually it gives me a headache.
I took yesterday off for any and all exercise, save a leisurely walk with Niko. With boot camp Friday, and the hike yesterday, it was welcomed. I’d originally planned on going to yoga, but my shoulder has really been bothering me lately. It’s an old volleyball injury that I flared up by doing too many push ups while teaching a group ex class (I think) and it’s just not getting better. A call to a physical therapist/chiropractor is on the agenda today…
I was going to list out my May Goals for the month, but I think I’ll leave that for tomorrow. This post is getting a wee bit rambly. Have a great Monday, guys!
How much ME time do you typically require?
Did you partake in Cinco de Mayo celebrations?
I think taking a day to relax when you can is a GREAT thing. I know that, as much as I love my friends and family, I need “me-time” to recharge. Over the weekend, that’s often a morning spent with coffee, blogs, and Pandora. During the week, it can take the form of a bubble bath in the evening.

The Royal Arch Hike is my favorite to do! I love that it is also like a butt workout clinging up all those rocks!! I require a lot of my time! Haha I have so much I like to do and accomplish. It keeps me sane!

I hardly ever buy geerinc. Maybe I’m fussy, but all the ones I’ve tried have been disappointing and I couldn’t be bothered trying again to save a few pennies here and there. I prefer other ways of reduction on food, like hardly ever buying anything that comes in a can or is pre-made.
I hope the forecast for this week changes so that we can do Royal Arch (or any other Flat Irons hike!) next weekend. It’s supposed to rain all week, but I’m going to be optimistic…
I really wanted to go out and celebrate yesterday, but forced myself to stay home and get sh*t done. We had some yummy tacos- that was the extent of any partying for Cinco de Mayo!

I cooked a Mexican dinner, and made way-to-strong margaritas, but that was about the extent of my celebration. I used the day for me time as well, complete me time since Tom was out golfing most of the day. It was wonderful!

I completely understand the need to just relax and play catch up. I usually like to have at least a weekend afternoon to do that. We had Chinese food for dinner on Cinco de Mayo. I told my hubby that it was allowed since we had Mexican about four times last week!

Me time? What’s that? With a two year old, I get very little besides the hour before he wakes up and the 2 hour nap during the day. Those hours are typically spent blogging, cleaning or cooking though so not much relaxing going on here. I did however make an apt for a facial (per the hubby’s recommendation) on Saturday for a little Me time. Can’t wait!

I require a decent amount of “me” time. Something I imagine will be more difficult to come by when I move in with the mister to a significantly smaller place than where I am now. Yikes.
Also, my only really celebration of Cinco de Mayo was a steak and black bean wrap I made yesterday. And the poor decision we made Saturday night to split some frozen “nacho bites”. They were disgusting in a guilt ridden way… lol

I would like three of those tres leches desserts. And only one spoon. I’m not sharing with anybody.

In my opinion the MOA lotioacn should be targeted at three things:1. Convenience if it’s a simple test that could be done there instead of in Rochester, offer it. Follow-up with Rochester Dr’s. via telemedicine. etcetera.2. Getting the younger demographic involved this lotioacn should be highly attractive to young people (who frequent MOA). Getting teens, and even children, to start taking ownership of their health is crucial. The earlier the better. Some parents don’t know how to coach their children towards a healthy lifestyle. The Clinic has the tools to help with that.3. Issues that impact a large portion of the population obesity, smoking cessation, etc. I love the idea of nutritional information on the various eateries within the mall to help consumers make educated choices while shopping. Having walking routes mapped would also be helpful. Readily available help for smoking cessation would be great as well. A lot of people don’t want to make an appointment just to go in for help in this area. Having it available on a walk-in basis may make it easier for people to kick the habit especially the younger smokers.Best wishes as you embark on this new endeavor!!
OOoh those tacos and the dessert. Yes, please! I don’t require much me time actually! Well…maybe I do and don’t realized it bc I alreadyget enough! Ha
LOVE the Boulder Farmer’s Market, it’s insane! I understand 100% about the “Me Time”. I have a fault in that I typically wait too long for the me time & build-up an intense amount of stress & then almost loose it. I need to get better about unplugging & stepping back. Thanks for the reminder 🙂

Sounds like a great weekend! At least you got in some tacos for the cinco de mayo;)
I totally feel you on sometimes needing some time for yourself. As much as I love being with friends, I start craving my own time where I can do some work, plan for the week, do some chores, writes, and other things I like to do.
I think it’s a really important part of health that a lot of us miss out on these days since society teaches us a “go, go, go” ethic is the best. When really, it can harm our long term health.
I’m so glad you took some time out for yourself yesterday! That’s great! Happy Monday!

Love that you guys got to go hiking this weekend – I hope we can join you next time! 🙂
