Some thoughts and discussions from me.
Some thoughts and discussions from me.
Hey, everyone! I’ve been meaning to write this blog post for about ever and a day, and I finally got around to it this week.
When you wake up in the morning, what’s the first thing you do?
Did you know you could take a few actionable steps that helps your digest food and burn fat more efficiently, and give you more energy?
What you put in your body first thing in the morning is debatably the most important thing you’ll ingest all day.
I rotate between several different beverages with a a few main goals:
The first thing I do as soon as I wake up is drink 16-20 ounces of water. This helps to rehydrate from the dehydration that occurs during sleep.
One thing I’ll sometimes add to my water is a pinch of pink himalayan sea salt to help with rehydrating, as well as other mineral absorption. I’ll also add a squeeze of lime, but that has more to do with goal #2.
Another thing I’ll add to my water, if not adding my sea salt/lime combo is electrolytes. I typically use Designs for Health electrolytes, and feel so much better after chugging a scoop with 16-20 ounces of water.
To my water, I’ll also add a scoop of greens. Right now, I do a scoop of electrolytes and a scoop of greens powder in the same container of water. This not only gets it all done in one step, but it also makes it taste good. The electrolytes taste better than the greens, and it makes it an actually enjoyable beverage to drink! I use Designs for Health for my greens powder, too — paleogreens.
The greens powder, along with mega dosing nutrients and antioxidant, has enzymes in the powder that helps alkalize and prepare the body for food for the day.
If I don’t do the greens/electrolytes combo, I do the lime/sea salt combo. The lime juice helps to alkalize the body. By introducing the acidity of the lime, the body in turn becomes more basic to balance it out.
In addition to the steps above, I also want to stay in a fat burning mode throughout the morning, so this is when I’ll typically introduce a bulletproof coffee.
Here’s how I generally make my bulletproof coffee:
1 cup of coffee of choice
1 packet of know brainer
1 scoop of Vital Proteins collaged peptides
Then I blend it all with a milk frother — it’s delicious!
Know Brainer is an MCT oil and clarified butter formula, and it comes in several flavors. I love it because of its ease of use, but when I run out, I just add my own clarified butter and liquid coconut oil – about a tablespoon of each.
This gives me quick fuel for the first couple hours of my day, when I need to be on my A-Game.
