Some thoughts and discussions from me.

Shane and I are absolutely thrilled to share that I am pregnant!!! After nearly 9 years of marriage, we’re embarking on our next journey of becoming parents.

It’s been such a hard secret to keep, especially those 5-6 weeks where my brain was everywhere, and I felt like I was sleep-walking through the days. — But I’m so excited to finally let you in on it!!

We decided to start trying (or rather, stop not-trying) back in July, 2015. I remember when we were in Costa Rica, we had the conversation about how we were both finally ready to give it a go after almost 7 years of marriage — and TONS of adventures.

Well, fast forward a year, and our not-trying had become yes-trying, and still nothing. We even went to the doctor to see if everything was ok and that we could, in fact, have a baby, but that involved some pretty intensive testing, and we decided to make some lifestyle changes instead.

I cut out all intense cardio (basically all cardio except walking, volleyball, and hiking,) and Shane made some significant healthy lifestyle changes himself, including big changes with his workouts and nutrition. This was in October, 2016.

Then, one day I noticed my period was late, which isn’t anything out of the norm, but I also felt like I usually do when I’m ovulating. After a couple days of feeling this way, I took a pregnancy test (which also isn’t anything out of the norm,) and could NOT believe it when I saw that second faint lime.

No – I literally couldn’t believe it. I actually told Shane I had to run to the store, and when asked what for, I spouted off, “um, lemons” – and left. Ha!

With a legit $10 test giving me two lines, I called in Shane to tell him, who proceeded to give me a high five.

As of today, I’m about 13.5 weeks along, which I think is officially considered the second trimester.

I’m fortunate in that I didn’t experience any morning sickness at all, and only had a few bouts of nausea. I was also hit with some fatigue, needing to lie down near the end of the day, but I’m not sure how much that had to do with pregnancy fatigue, and how much to do with giving up coffee.

However, the first trimester was very rocky in other ways. I bled from weeks 6-9, and during those three weeks, I was basically a complete, emotional, nervous wreck. I got absolutely nothing creative done in my business, and only managed to complete my day to day tasks like client check-ins, coaching and training, and program writing.

Thankfully, that stopped at 9 weeks, and hasn’t happened since (Thank God!)

When people ask me if I’m showing yet, my response is, “only in my boobs,” lol. But really – I’m not complaining about that at all! I’m not really showing in my waist yet, probably because I have a long torso. Here’s some “bump pictures” from 6 weeks, when I found out, 11 weeks, and then 13 weeks.

As far as blog and newsletter content is concerned, it will stay fitness, nutrition, and mindset-focused, but I’ll probably throw in a lifestyle/pregnancy update or two every now and then since it’s such a big part of my life now. I’ll post a first trimester update later this week or next with some more details.

Thank you SO much for all of your support and excitement already! XO
