Some thoughts and discussions from me.
Some thoughts and discussions from me.
Good morning, friends! Today I want to talk morning routines, and share my morning routine for a productive day with you!
For some reason, I find morning routines fascinating, and over the past 4 or 5 months, I’ve gotten a steady routine nailed down. This sequence of events just helps me find my groove with both my mood and elevated productivity levels for the day.
The other day I shared my morning routine on a Facebook Live (PS – I broadcast every Mon/Wed/Fri around 10 or 11a ET if you’d like to catch one) and I wanted to share it here with you – with pictures.
Now, I am very much a creature of habit, and as my closest friends and family can tell you – I love my routines. And, I’m absolutely in love with this one.
Sooo, here we go!
6:20a- I wake up naturally, and thank God for having the opportunity to open my eyes another day. Then I walk down to the kitchen to make my lemon/lime elixir:
In the beginning of the week, I chop up a couple lemons and limes and throw them in a ziplock baggie in the fridge. Every morning I take the juice of one lime and lemon wedge, a pinch of pink sea salt, and warm water, and drink up.
I find it delicious, but I feel so much better in the morning because of it. The lemon + lime alkalize my body, preparing it for the coffee and foods, and the water + sea salt help hydrate and replenish electrolytes, since we get dehydrated during sleep. I even make this when I travel if I can.
(I do train clients two days a week, so on those days, I wake up at 5:30a with an alarm, and have a 30 minute routine that’s very abbreviated since, #ilikesleep)
While I’m sipping this, I make Niko’s breakfast, and then light a candle, head into my office, turn on some meditation music on spotify, and set a 5-minute timer for 5 minutes of meditation.
Afterward, I either pray, read some devotions, or do some journaling for about 15 minutes.
By this time it’s about 7a and it’s time to start my work day. I always start my day by completing – or at least making good headway – on some kind of creative work in my business.
This is when I’m my sharpest and freshest, so I make sure to utilize it by doing something that will move my business forward. I work ON my business, rather than IN my business during this time, you could say.
After 30-60 minutes of creative work, I switch gears and check in with my clients. I also heat up some breakfast that I typically bulk cook on Sundays and eat while I’m doing this.
I answer emails from the evening before, check in with all of my online boot campers and membership community, and make sure everyone is off to a good start to their day. This usually takes another 30-60 minutes.
At this point it’s usually around 8:30 or 8:45, and I head upstairs to get ready for the day. Up until this point, I’ve been kicking it in my robe. I put on some concealer and lip gloss, curl my hair, and grab my phone for the first time of the day.
{I will say that one of THE biggest things that makes a difference in my day is that I do NOT touch my phone when I wake up, and I leave it on my night stand until I’ve been up for a good 1.5-2 hours at least.}
Then I head back downstairs, and film a FB Live video on the topic that’s on my mind that day.
This is actually a somewhat new part of my routine, but I absolutely love connecting with my audience and clients in this manner. There’s something so much more authentic about video – especially live video – and I’ve really been enjoying the interaction that takes place from these videos.
Now it’s about 9:15 or 9:30, so I tie up a few loose ends, then run out the door to lift!
And that’s my morning routine! I typically spend the rest of the day writing programs, on calls with VIP or Fitness Business clients, or responding to – and taking action on – client emails.
