Some thoughts and discussions from me.
Some thoughts and discussions from me.
This time of year is a funny one for me – it gets me thinking about memories and gets me a little nostalgic. Because exactly three years ago (well, technically, three years and seven days,) I announced my big, gigantic news that Shane and I were moving to Colorado.
One thing about the midwest is that most people who are born there stay there, but ever since I was little, I knew I wanted to live somewhere else. So when we made the decision to pack up our life belongings, sell our house, and move to a place where we knew absolutely no one, was a BIG first for us.
Like many others, I have a pretty cushy comfort zone, and I like to stay there. But I also know that growth and excitement happen outside the bounds of that zone. Moving to Colorado pushed me completely outside that zone, but as I’ve mentioned multiple times before, it was one of the best “firsts” of my life – that spiraled into many more firsts.
I am teaming up with Polar for a series of posts – and will be using their brand spanking new A360 model for more firsts this winter!
(I’ll be reviewing it after trying it out for another week or so, but spoiler alert: it has a strength training option for the activity choice – finally!!!)This post is sponsored by polar, but all opinions are my own. PS – Polar has top of the line heart rate monitors, and if you’re thinking of buying one as a holiday gift, use code POLARFITBLOG for any Polar HRM or activity tracker.
That decision – that long one-way u-haul drive – to move out to Colorado was the first of many firsts. Completely out of my element, I took rolled with it by doing even more unfamiliar things. I started a neighborhood boot camp, which lead to making our first friends (which are still our besties!) here in Colorado.
I went to my first hot yoga class, which lead to many hot yoga classes.
I ramped up my online training business so I could reach more women across the world.
We took our first Colorado-cation, which lead to MANY more.
We built and bought our first house together.
I discovered how much more of an active lifestyle I can have here, and we took our first skiing lessons, which lead to skiing nearly every weekend with our friends.
I went for my first trail-run, which launched into a love of running in the mountains.
We went white water rafting in the Colorado mountains for the first time, went snow shoeing for the first time, camping for the first time, fly-fishing for the first time, hiked 14,000 ft. mountains for the first time!
The action-packed play never ends. If there’s one thing Colorado dwellers are known for – it’s for being fit and active. Being amongst some of the top athletes – and just sport and play enthusiasts like myself, is SO inspiring to get out there and do more, play more, and have more “firsts.”
Shane and I often play the “imagine if we never moved to Colorado game” – and it’s insane what one “first move” will do to completely change your life. And I can’t wait for next first move.
Thank you Polar, for helping me tell my #DiscoverYourFirsts story! Make sure to use the POLARFITBLOG on polar.com on any heart rate monitor or activity tracker – this excludes the A360.
What “first move” have you made that’s completely changed your life?
What’s one thing that you plan on trying for the first in 2016?

I’m so glad the move worked out so well for you guys! I definitely get a bit jealous of all the things there are to do in Colorado! My boyfriend and his son are leaving Saturday to spend the next several days with his family (he’s from CO) and I’m really jealous I don’t get to go. I’m kind of hoping he finds a way to sneak me into his luggage! 😉

It’s going to be nice and sunny the next few days, too! Wish you could join him 🙂
I love this! I just made my first big move, also to CO, this summer! It’s already led me to some memorable firsts, and seeing all of yours here are so inspiring! I’m so glad you are still happy here, and I’m sure we will be too 🙂
