Some thoughts and discussions from me.

Good morning, babes! I hope your week is going well. While I can’t believe it’s only Tuesday, I’m still pretty pumped that it’s today. It’s today, which means we have an entire day to make life happen for us.

Today I wanted to share a cool new service with you that I was able to experience through my connection with Fitfluential, Amwell (free visit code below!) the nations largest telepath (online) community allowing doctors, RD’s, and psychologist help patients via their computers.

Even though I’ve been training clients online for years now, I was surprised at just how much online medical attention well, surprised me! It makes sense, though –

Clients can now access medical advice at a low cost – $49 for a physician visit and $25 for a consult with a registered dietician – all from their living room.

No shoes, no shirt (heck, no pants!) – and still service. Amwell has doctors online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so if someone doesn’t feel well enough to visit their doctor, but still wants medical advice – even in the middle of the night – they can just hop online (and bypass the dramatic worst-case-diagnosis of WebMD – ha!)

For nutrition, there are four different RD’s to choose from, so take a peek at their bios, and see which one matches your needs the most.

I hopped on a call with Registered Dietician, Maika Luongo, who completed her internship at UC Berkley in 2005.

I talked to Dr. Luongo primarily about sports nutrition and fat loss, since most of my clients’ needs surround fat loss and strength gain goals, as well as fueling for their training. Dr. Luongo and I chatted about my current practices for health and nutrition coaching, and she re-affirmed my guidance and practices as sound for my clients goals.

She also mentioned she personally generally starts her patients out with a 45% carbohydrate and equal protein and fat percentages who have goals of weight loss and fat loss, and then adjusts it as she works with that person. Measuring food and counting calories is also her preferred method of choice when it comes to weight loss for motivated individuals.

As a runner, Dr. Luongo recommended a post-workout snack, when the workout is longer than 60 minutes of a  2:1 carb to protein ratio. Typically, none of my workouts – or my clients workouts – last longer than 60 minutes, unless they’re training for a marathon, but a 2:1 ratio when working at that duration is recommended.

She’s been conducting online nutrition consultations since March, and it’s her full time job. While she mostly does singular consults with clients, she does offer ongoing support, for those clients who get a meal plan, and then check back with their RD. I’m sure she gets even more questions as I do when I tell uninformed folks I’m an online PT!

I definitely recommend checking the dietician services of Amwell out – especially since you can do so for FREE with the coupon code: FITFORLIFE – I was impressed with how much valuable information could be obtained in 30 minutes for just $25.
