Some thoughts and discussions from me.
Hello my friends!
Today I thought we’d switch gears a get and a little day-in-the-life up in here. I had already filmed a full day of eating on Saturday, so I figured – why not make a post out of it, too? Plus, Saturday was a really great Colorado day all around.
Stick around toward the end for my full day of eating video, if you’d like. I normally do these during the week, but the thing is – I eat fairly differently on the weekends. I’m not trying to lean out, lose fat, or really change my physique right now, so letting loose on the weekends completely fits my lifestyle.
And then one more clarifying comment before we get into the day: I’ve started declaring one day a week to do no work at all. If you are or you know someone who works for themselves, then you know that it’s really hard to shut off work. Personally, I absolutely love what I do. I love it – every part of it! And while I love it, this also makes it hard not to work all of the time.
This is bad for two reasons:
1. Contrary to what you’d think, this actually make me less productive. It leads to burn out, which then leads to less productivity when I’m actually working.
2. It forces me out of the moment! If I’m thinking about work all of the time, it’s hard to think about what I’m doing right in the moment – which is one of my highest goals in life.
OK! Now on to what I actually did on my day off!
It started bright and early. After a quick, easy, and tasty breakfast (shown in video,) I met Lynne, Heidi, and a new friend – Katie, for a trail run at one of my favorite nearby trails – Marshall Mesa. I’d say if I’m trail running, I’m typically here 90% of the time.
But the views never cease to amaze me. All of that rain sure made for some bright green, lush views at the base of the mountains!
Afterward, I made a pitstop for a coffee and a round, circular snack (heh,) headed home, and bypassed a shower for another walk outside. But then instead of walking, I ended up lying on the grass, reading/gazing at the mountains/getting puppy kisses.
As soon as I walked in the door, Shane suggested a picnic, so we headed back outside and to the reservoir near our house to hang out.
Local craft beer, trail mix, mountain views and my babe. Not much better than that!
After showers (finally – haha) we headed out to dinner with another couple to a new restaurant in town called The Roost. It has a rooftop deck, plus the menu sounded legit – so we were sold. Shane and I actually got the exact same thing – a sourdough burger with fries (mine came with marshmallow cream!!!) in all its deliciousness.
(Note: I wanted to be transparent in that I don’t always eat nutrient-dense, “healthy” and “clean” foods. I typically showcase my eats from during the week, where veggies are abundant, but I tend to let loose a little on the weekend! I’m not trying to lose body fat or change my physique. It’s fine.)

All in all, it was a lovely Colorado day. Sunday was also a pretty good day – filled with a productive morning and ending with a fun night at a cook out with friends. I also saw my girl, Lauren, unfortunately not in the best circumstances. She got in a terrible car accident, and is lucky to be alive. I was able to visit her in the hospital, and I couldn’t believe how positive she was despite what happened. Please send positive vibes her way!
*I suppose since I recorded my eats for the day it wasn’t *technically* 100% off! lol Hey, I’m getting better, though!
How was your weekend?
What was the best part about it?
What was the best thing you ate this weekend?
Food for thought: if you are still documenting your off day with play-by-play photos, is it still an off day?

lol – I thought of that, too. I didn’t really document my day with play-by-play photos, though. There are 4 pictures in this post, all of which I would have taken anyway. The video, however….well, I’d call that work I suppose. But, I’m getting closer to that day off! 😉
What a lovely weekend! I cooked ALL day Saturday and then was dragged to a family obligation on Sunday :/ Haha!
Your posts are making me SO excited about our move, which I can now say is NEXT MONTH!! I bookmarked Marshall Mesa Trail so I remember to try it out with my pup 🙂
favorite donut will always be the Sour Cream cake. It’s just so delicious.
(Shane’s Coloradical shirt – I need one! where’d he get it?)

From Coloradicalshirts.com! hehe 🙂
I find taking a full “day off” from everything doesn’t happen often for me either! I guess that is something I need to work on! Looks like an amazing day. 🙂

It is really hard to take a full day off! There is always so much to do. The best thing I ate this weekend was a muffin I had made last week with fresh raspberries. So good!

The weekend was great. My daughter had the official end to her school year so we were celebrating. We also planted our garden which I am so excited about! The trails where you run look gorgeous! A little envious!

Seriously love how balanced and cool you are about eating foods that are good FOR you and good TO you. Health in its truest! And those sweet potato fries sound divine.

Sounds like a lovely weekend! Good for you for taking a complete rest day – it’s so important. I was away at a cousin’s wedding in the US, so it was a very much unplugged weekend for me (I didn’t want to get charged roaming fees!) Lots of family time, lots of great food, and lots of sleep too.
