Some thoughts and discussions from me.
Happy Friday, loves!
Does anyone have any fun plans for the weekend? It’s been fairly warm here in Colorado, but I’m hoping to make a trip to the high country to get some skiing in! When we went last weekend, I finally started feeling like I was in control of the mountain, and not the other way around. AKA – I didn’t go barreling down the mountain like a banshee. Baby steps.
It’s tough for me, because I tend to really really like things I’m naturally good at, and well, be not so interested in activities that I’m not so naturally blessed. But, I know that’s not a way to live, and that that’s a perfectionist way of thinking, and you know what I think about perfectionism. (It doesn’t exist! It sucks!)
Another weird thing about skiing is it makes me tired and HUNGRY. It’s weird, because it totally doesn’t feel like a workout when I’m doing it. Then we get in the car, and bam! I’m exhausted and I could eat a horse.
Earlier this week, I experimented in the kitchen to make a little ski snack! I’m all about the no-bake protein snacks, and man did I whip up a tasty one this time! I’m going to stash a couple of ’em in my coat pocket for when I need a bite on the slopes.
Peanut Butter Cup Protein Bites
Makes about 12-14 balls
1/2 c. powdered peanut butter (or PB2, etc.)
60 g. whey protein powder (I used Quest Nutrition’s PB flavor)
1/3 c. peanut butter
~1/4 c. NuNatural’s Chocolate Syrup (OR liquid sweetener to taste)
almond milk to bring it all together (see note in directions)
Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl. Add the wet ingredients and stir, stir, stir! Only add as much almond milk to just bring the mixture together. It should NOT be wet – just damp enough to form into a ball, and still be kind of dry (does that make any sense?)

Happy weekend!
Q’s:
What’s an activity that’s sure to make you HUNGRY?
Whatcha up to this weekend?!

I have been looking for more protein based recipes! Good, quality bars are hard to find. Skiing will surely make you hungry – running always does it for me. Not sure what’s on the weekend agenda yet – it’s so cold in Austin I am debating what we should do. Happy Friday!

We skied in Breckenridge 2 years ago. It was my first time and a little terrifying! I feel the same way about not really liking things I am not great at, but our group was fun and relaxed.
Getting off the chair lift was the most challenging thing! My legs were sore, but I think my nerves kept them braced all weekend.
Where do you ski?
Oh man these look awesome!! I’m totally making these very, very soon. And I’m with you on the skiing thing. It feels so leisurely when I’m out there doing my “s”s on the slopes, but as soon as I take the gear off and sit down in front of the fireplace, I’m toast! and starving!!

That really sounds delicious. Having enough protein is always good.
These sound good! I’m all about healthy, natural snacks, and surprisingly I’ve never made no-bake protein balls before! I need to get on it!
Hmm, an activity that used to make me feel like I could eat a horse was swimming! I swam competitively for years and remember after practice how I felt like I could house everything in sight! It’s a killer workout, and like skiing, you don’t really realize it at the time, especially because you don’t know how much you’re sweating when you’re in a pool swimming laps!
