Some thoughts and discussions from me.
Hi, friends! Happy Friday to ya.
I’ve got a busy day today – and actually a busy weekend ahead, too. My parents are coming to visit Colorado next week, and I’m trying to tie up loose ends on projects so I can have a clearer schedule to spend with my family. With an article to push out, blog posts to write, a newsletter to send out, programs to write, and Phase 1&2 of YTP Boot Camp (there are FOUR phases in this round) to complete I’d say I have my work cut out for me! I’d also like to sneak in a hike or two
Speaking of Boot Camp, next week is the last week to sign up! I keep updating the Boot Camp page, so make sure to check it out from time to time for updated info, testimonials and results from Round 1, and new Giveaway Check-In Challenges. So far, for giveaways, we have:
Week 1 – Quest is kicking it off with TWO giveaway winners
Week 2 – Love Grown Foods
Week 3 – SizzleFish
Week 4 – Healthy Bites
Week 5 – KIND
Week 6 – FlapJacked
Week 7 – Camelbak
Week 8 – Arctic Zero
One heck of a line up, right?!
One of the things I just love about hosting online boot camps is that it gives people a place to start. I often get emails from women who want to start living a healthy, fit lifestyle, but are so overwhelmed with all the different information out there that they’re not sure where to start. They have goals of losing inches, losing body fat, gaining energy and that confidence that comes along with making fitness a priority. Usually my advice is simple: just start! It doesn’t happen over night, but if we build one healthy habit on top of another, surely but slowly, we’ll get there.
That’s why I love the online boot camp – it gives you a place to start, whether you’re brand new to this fitness thing or you’re advanced and looking for a fresh new routine (because of the levels of progression built into each exercise.) It gives you a place to start, no matter where you’re starting from with a cohesive, systematic program.
It’s really that simple and complicated: just start.
I also heeded this advice when it came to an article that I had due by this morning. Unlike every other blogger I know, I’m admittedly NOT a type-A personality. When I get that creative urge, I’ll sit down at my computer and write and write and write for hours. However, when the words just aren’t flowing out of my fingertips, I tend to step back and wait – or do something that inspires creativity.
Time on trails is always a sure bet as a precursor for a productive work day
And then sometimes the just starting is forced! At the studio I teach at, we changed formats so that the spin and TRX classes I teach could allow more people to sign up. Yesterday was the first day for that new format, and it was a bit chaotic! Luckily, I don’t mind change, and look forward to a challenge. There were some hiccups along the way, but I think it went over pretty well.
After spending the morning at the studio (if you’re looking for a premier TRX and indoor cycling studio in Boulder County, let me know!) I made a quick green smoothie, and headed back out the door (who needs a shower?) I had to go into Denver to grab some KIND bars, and made a stop by the Love Pad – aka Love Grown Foods on the way. Since we’re working together for YTP Boot Camp, I stopped by to introduce myself and meet (most of) the team.
I have a feeling I’m going to have a love affair with their SUPER Oats. It’s basically supped up oatmeal with 0 grams of sugar and 7 protein grams!
I jetted back home afterward to train a makeup client, get in my own lifting workout, and then train another client. I’ve felt SO busy and behind this week because of Monday, which I usually have most of the day to write programs, posts, and articles. Crazy how one little holiday can throw off a whole week!
For now, I’m off to go find a trail to run on, a coffee shop to work in, and then Whole Foods for a KIND thing. Have a great weekend!
Did having Monday off (if you had it off) throw you off kilter this week?
Have you had a ‘Just Start’ moment in fitness or wellness? How did you ‘just start?’
Wow I love the idea of an online bootcamp! I taught bootcamp myself for a few years and I love the progress people were able to make because after a week or two when they really started feeling strong and motivated. The energy of knowing that there is a group of people doing the bootcamp with you helps when you want to quit!! Best of luck with all these new things at once – but that’s what fall is for right – rejuvenating and restarting!! I will have to look for those oats because those stats are impressive! I’m doing a Fitness Friday linkup and I think this would be a great post for people are are interested in improving their fitness and health! Have a great weekend!

It doesn’t even feel like Friday to me! lol I’m sure that will change today come quittin’ time 😉
Those are some wise words! Its so true that you just have to start. That is the best part about this lifestyle, the fact that there is always somerhing to learn, to try and challenge yourself. If we knew everything we would get bored very easily!
