Some thoughts and discussions from me.

I never know what to write for a post on Wednesdays, so I usually end up not posting anything at all. Actually, I always intend on posting something recipe or food related, but then inevitably I forget to take pictures of my food and/or creations. What good is a food post without delicious eats to show?!

So, today I thought I’d share little snippets from my Tuesday.

It like every other day  starts– with a little bible reading.

(recycled picture, but it looks the same every day)

Actually, it’s a bible-based book I’m reading, with some reflection/devotions after the end of the chapter. And of course, coffee. However, in Paige-fashion, I forgot to photograph my breakfast, but I whipped up a breakfast burrito with eggs, sausage, and mixed greens cooked in a heated up tortilla. Pretty tasty – it was missing avocado though.

Tuesdays I teach a morning spin+TRX combo class, and I’m pretty proud to say it’s one of the most popular classes at the studio!

Yes, I see the irony of stating that I teach a popular class, and then posting a picture with no one on the bikes. I took this after class was over Winking smile haha

I love the energy of a full class, but the high number of people that sign up presents a challenge for me to fit in everyone during the TRX portion, as I have to pair people up and make stations. It went fine, and each of the classes were awesome with new killer playlists. Here’s the songs I used if you’re on Spotify – the spin class ends with ‘Bonfire Heart’ and the TRX class begins with ‘Something Bad.’

On Tuesdays I also teach to a virtual ride. Yesterday we were in Coastal California! After class, I trained a client, and then came home for a shower and a smoothie.

A typical green smoothie for me – almond/coconut milk, scoop of whey, giant handful of greens, frozen strawberries, and a blob of peanut butter. Yum yum.

Through the middle of the day, I worked on online client training plans, boot camp videos, and an article I need to finish up for Sierra Trading Post. Speaking of STP, make sure to check out my latest post – 5 Core Exercises to Take your Adventuring to the Next Level! It discusses the reasons that having strong abs is important, and then a quick circuit workout to print out and take with you to do yourself!

After a few hours, I made a second lunch. Quest Nutrition recently sent me some of their new chips to try, so I made a ham and cheese sandwich stuffed with some of their cheddar chips.

It was my first time trying their new chips, and I really enjoyed them. Did I mention that Quest is doing a prize package for not one, but TWO of the Check-in Challenge Giveaways for YTP Boot Camp?! Heck yeah! If you haven’t signed up yet, you still can HERE until September 10th.

I had a client to train in the early evening, so after a walk with Niko, I packed up my stuff and headed to the gym to train her. I’d actually intended on getting in a strength workout beforehand, but my butt (literally) is still SO sore from Sunday night’s lifting sesh. Gotta love that second day soreness! Instead of pushing through, I played it safe and just stretched and foam rolled around. There will always be tomorrow Winking smile

After my client I had to rush home and change out of spandex and into real clothes, because Shane made reservations at a local wine bar, 20 20 Food + Wine, for a wine and tapas pairing for the evening.

Our friend is a sommelier and owner of a local wine shop, so we went to see which wines he picked out, and how they paired with the dishes. We’ve been watching Top Chef every night (started on Season 1) and wanted to do something a little fancier slash different for dinner, which is why we signed up for this dinner/pairing.

It was such a fun night. We hadn’t had a great experience the first time we dined at this restaurant, but this event was amazing. I can’t wait until the next one. From the sardine flat bread to the cod fritters to the brisket meatballs, everything was off. the. hook.  And the coolest thing was that the wine went absolutely perfectly with each dish. Shane and I once took a Wine 101 class that I just found SO interesting. Too bad I can’t pick out certain tastes and scents worth a crap! I actually learned the other day that some people are born with 10% more taste buds on their tongue – and those people have a pallet that can pick out certain notes in wine, and ingredients in food. (The things you learn while watching Top Chef…)

And while we mentioned a couple times that a couple of our friends would have loved the event, Shane and I hardly ever go out just us two anymore because we’re always going out with friends. It’s nice to feel like we’re having a “date” every now and then.

This morning I’ve got my work cut out for me. It’s time to edit and put together all of those exercises I filmed the other day for your first phase of boot camp!

Do you have a discernable pallet? Are you able to pick out certain ingredients and notes in food and drink?

I always laugh as I swirl and smell my wine and say, ooooh, yes. it definitely has notes of…wine. Ha!
