Some thoughts and discussions from me.

Hiya, friends!

Things have been pretty serious around here lately, with New Year’s intentions, life lessons learned, and getting out of a funk. So how about starting off the week with three, super-quick, super-fun, super-efficient beach workouts?

And just because I’m calling them beach workouts, you’re not limited to the beach in terms of where you do the workouts. Also, it’s pretty brutal seeing these sunny, warm, pictures when here in Colorado it’s single digit temps and snowy. Alas, you can do them anywhere! You absolutely positively do not need a gym or expensive, fancy equipment to get in a good workout. Two of these workouts require no equipment at all, and one just requires a tree and a picnic bench.

While Shane, Niko, and I vacationed in Florida over Christmas, I really didn’t have any plan as far as workouts go. However, when we woke up the first day, and Shane suggested heading down to the beach to workout, we kind of set a routine for the week. Beach workout>beach lounging>drinks and dinner. I think if I had my ideal life with an ideal day, that’d be it right there.

Yep. No qualms about that! Winking smile

On the first morning, we focused on a mix of strength and cardio. It started out with strength, and then the last 3 or 4 exercises were more strength-based cardio.

Of course, every group circuit ends with a high 5 Winking smile

Woot!

And then on day #2, we focused solely on metabolic conditioning. We actually walked down to the jetty, which is about a mile down the beach. We walked to the jetty, and then on the way back, we did this workout:

On a 1-mile walk, complete the following burpee ladder every .10 mile

10 burpees, 1 tuck jump

9 burpees, 2 tuck jumps

8 burpees, 3 tuck jumps

7 burpees, 4 tuck jumps

6 burpees, 5 tuck jumps

5 burpees, 6 tuck jumps

4 burpees, 7 tuck jumps

3 burpees, 8 tuck jumps

2 burpees, 9 tuck jumps

1 burpees, 10 tuck jumps

On day 3, we went back to adding in strength. I really wanted to work on chin ups while I was there, so we walked down the beach until we found a grouping of trees, and got our pull up on.

Basically, one of us would do as many pull ups as we could, while the other rested, and then switched. Then we moved on to a quick metabolic circuit of v-ups on a picnic bench and picnic bench jumps.

And on day 4, we were beat, and it was raining, so a rest day it was Winking smile

Do you tend to workout while on vacation?

If yes, do you use a hotel gym or another gym? Or use your surroundings?
