Some thoughts and discussions from me.
Good morning!
Yes, it’s morning, and I have my coffee right by my side, as always. Let’s pretend you’re here at my table with me! Chatting over a cup of joe.
I’d tell you that I’m so happy to hear that my family and friends in central Illinois have power once again, after a string of tornados tore through their town.
Yes, this is the damage that tore through Washington, Illinois, a town about 15 minutes from where I grew up. My hometown got hit, too, but thank God, my family and friends are all safe. However, a friend who lives in Washington lost her home. It kinda sucks being 950 miles away right now. I just want to help. Has your town ever experienced devastation like this? My current town did, too, back in September, in the Boulder County Flood.
-I’d also tell you that I was SO out of my element on Wednesday afternoon, but had SO much fun at the same time.
I met with a group of people at Prana on Pearl Street, and we all put in headphones and jammin’ tunes, and danced around Pearl St. for an hour, looking like complete freaks. I loved every second of it! Some people laughed at us, some people video’d us, while smiled and waved. #beyourself. When’s the last time you did something out of your comfort zone?
-That day on Wednesday? It was sunny and in the 60’s. Yesterday? It was 13 degrees and snowy! Yowza! My system is NOT prepared for that. What’s the weather like where you’re at?
-Oh! I am also SO excited for Catching Fire. If I were back at home, my mom and I would definitely go see it with each other on Sunday, since we did that last year with HG. Since she’s 950 miles away, Shane is going to catch up by watching Hunger Games with me, and then we’re going to go see Catching Fire together.
It makes me want to read the series all over – again! Are you a Hunger Games fan?
I’d also tell you that another thing I’m excited about? Snow shoeing! I think we have plans of going this weekend up by Longs Peak, or maybe Bear Lake, and I’m super duper pumped. It snowed a bunch in the mountains over the last couple days, and I’m ready to play in it!
Picture from last year at Bear Lake. What’s your favorite thing to do in the snow?
And since we’re drinking coffee, I’d probably offer you a pumpkin spice breakfast cookie that I made the other day…
It’s a recipe that I made for the MuesliFusion blog, so you’d have to wait for the recipe, though
And lastly, if we were having coffee, I’d probably indulge in some gossip. Did you hear Chris Brown got kicked out of rehab?! What do you think about that?
Your turn! Answer one of the questions I asked you above
Glad to hear that your family and friends are safe, but sorry to hear your friend’s house was destroyed. Sending prayers her way!
I think it’s SO awesome that you guys just danced around the sidewalks!! The last time I did something out of my comfort zone was this week when I took a bunch of selfies of myself at school for yesterday’s “Behind the Scenes” post. It was slightly awkward, but still fun.
I haven’t had time to read the Catching Fire yet, but I do want to see it! I loved the Hunger Games.

I’m so relieved to hear that your friends and family are ok after the tornadoes! We had the same system pass through us, but fortunately none touched down up here.
I’m jealous of everyone going to see Catching Fire! I definitely plan on seeing it (I loved the books) but I’ll probably wait a week or two.

Today the weather has gotten really, really cold, but it will probably be another month or so before we have a real possibility of snow. Have so much fun in the mountains this weekend! Can’t wait to hear about it!

I’m so happy to hear your family and friends are okay! It was definitely scary around here on Sunday but I was very thankful that despite being under tornado watches and warnings most of the day, my area didn’t get hit. We had some crazy winds which did lead to some damage you can see around the area but no tornadoes. The town that I grew up in was devastated by a tornado when my mom was a little girl. I remember hearing stories from her and my aunts and uncles growing up. They were lucky though because their entire neighborhood was demolished but their house was left untouched. I’ve always been afraid of tornadoes ever since growing up hearing their stories.

skiing is my favorite thing to do in the snow, however I haven’t had the opportunity to go in over 10 years! Crazy, I can’t believe it’s really been that long!

yum to those cookies!
So glad to hear your family is safe and sound! Those tornadoes were so scary and the devastation on TV was awful. I wish I loved snow because snowboarding looks so fun, but I HATE it. I guess that’s what happens when you grow up in upstate NY? haha enjoy your weekend!

It was 80*F-ish today! No snow shoeing for me! If we were somewhere with snow I’d love to ski! and just play around!! Snow makes it feel like it’s really the holiday season 🙂
On a more serious note we’ve had a number of very scary hurricanes where I live – some were devastating….natural disasters are so pitiful and so scary and there’s just nothing to do when it’s on it’s way. At least with hurricanes we have notice that they’re coming…

I can’t wait to see Catching Fire. I have next week off and am going to try and going during an off-time. I’m sure it’ll be packed all weekend!

That dancing looks fun but is soooo far outside my comfort zone. The thing I’ve done most recently outside of my zone is to join a local running club. With social anxiety, that is a HUGE leap for me. Gone to one meeting so far and it was kind of fun – pretty small scale so I didn’t have to meet them all at a big race or something like that first.

I want to have snow to play in! The dancing thing sounds like a lot of fun. I think I could do it if there were other people around dancing too. The fact that everyone is listening to their own music makes me feel like they won’t be able to tell how horrible I am with keeping to the beat!
wasn’t Catching Fire amazing???? So… Team Peeta or Gale??
