Some thoughts and discussions from me.
Good morning!
Ironically, today’s post was going to be a survey from the Sunshine Award. However, that’s going to have to get postponed to next week. The sun has been hiding here in Colorado, and all it’s been is rain, rain, rain.
So…that rain here in Boulder County has turned from rain…to an absolute nightmare. I’m so sad to see the damage this flood has done to my county.
Watching the pictures come in yesterday, and being directed to several different ways to come home yesterday, seeing so many be forced to go into shelters, and three people dying, I hated seeing people taking this lightly on social media yesterday. CU cancelled classes until Monday, and the Boulder Sheriff told everyone to stay off the roads, as the roads were for emergency personnel only.

This is the “creek” that runs behind our neighborhood.
Notsomuch a creek anymore!
Luckily, I got home from the gym I have to drive to by early morning, and then rest of my clients were at the gym within walking distance. I trained, albeit a bit wet from rain, until noon, and then called it a day. I scrubbed the bathrooms, sent some emails, and then started watching Newsroom on Netflix around 3:00. Yep…I was a lazy bum from 3:00-about bedtime, save for the hour when we cooked dinner.
Chicken sausage and green beans. I was actually going to put in some effort into making spaghetti or maybe even chicken enchiladas, but it turns out I forgot to thaw out both of those things. Soooo, chicken sausage it is. We also busted out a bottle of wine, because the wine shop across the street was open, and what else is there to do when the town is shut down because of a flood?
Oh, and earlier on in the day, I said to a client, “can you imagine if this rain was snow?!” Well, turns out, if it were snow, we would have gotten 125 inches of it!! And that was reported around noon yesterday! Crazy…
Today I’ve got a really busy day! It starts with early morning clients and ends with a couple business meetings
Oh, and we’re not going camping this weekend anymore, clearly. And I’m not about to complain about not being able to camp when there are people evacuated from their homes!
And just so this post ends on a happy note, look at the flowers I was surprised with from a client this week:
I mentioned my favorite flowers were hydrangeas, and this pretty little arrangement showed up at the gym! It made my day.
Have you ever experienced a natural disaster?
I’ve never experienced one of this caliber before in person…only on the news!
oh my goodness!! Be safe today. Glad you got home okay. <3

Oh man – tornados scare the CRAP out of me…and I didn’t even ever experience one first hand. Scary stuff.
Wow…your pictures really hit home! I am a CU alum now living in the Chicago suburbs. I have been following you and your adventures, living vicariously through them for a long time…however this is the first time I have ever left a comment for any blogger! 🙂 I was relieved you posted and are safe! Keep doing what you are doing! You are very inspiring! Stay safe!! Go Buffs!!

In general and as someone who holds Colorado near and dear, I’ve been horrified by the pictures I’m seeing. So glad that you guys have made it through alright, and I’m praying for all those affected.
On a lighter note, what did you think of Newsroom? I’m obsessed with it. It’s the wittiest, most intelligent show I’ve seen in quite awhile!

I am so sorry for everyone who lost their life’s work in the flood. The same thing happend in Germany in my ex home town and it was devastating! I hope everyone gets trough this alright! So glad your safe 🙂
Wow, that’s incredible and scary!
We had really bad flooding in RI in 2010 and we were evacuated by the National Guard from our house for 2 days. We had about a foot of water in our finished basement throughout and we were JUST about to finish getting the rest of the water out when they knocked on the door and told us we had to leave right away. We’re near a dam in our town that would have been wiped out had the dam in the next town broken, which they feared would happen. It never happened, but was terrifying nonetheless. Luckily, we had great friends who sheltered us and helped us pick up the pieces afterwards, including refinishing the whole basement. Which was good, because even with the money we received from FEMA and insurance, we wouldn’t have had enough if we had to pay a contractor to do it for us!
Stay safe!

I was thinking about you and Lauren this morning while I was watching the news. I hope the situation doesn’t get any worse. All that rain is just crazy. A friend here at work has family that was evacuated. Just really, really scary.
Thanks, Lindsay <3 Luckily, my neighborhood is still ok (right now,) and Lauren lives outside of Boulder County - plus, is in MN this weekend 🙂
So scary!!! I hope you stay safe! Be careful! I used to live in Brisbane (Australia) and it flooded really badly one year when I was there. My whole apartment flooded. It was awful, destroyed all my clothes etc, because it left our apartment so mouldy everything that was in there post flood just grew mould. Awful. And seriously mould and flooding was minor compared to what some people suffered through. It really can be just devastating. Boulder is in my prayers.
