Some thoughts and discussions from me.

Today’s my parents’ last day here visiting, but I’m going to try not to think about it until the very last minute (because we know what happens then.) It’s been such a fun last few days. Whenever people come to visit, I feel like I’m on vacation, too! While it’s not good for my workload, it is good for my love and fun load. And my fun load is full Open-mouthed smile

On Thursday after training a few clients and teaching a morning class, my mom and I headed down to Pearl Street for some shopping and people-watching.

You can always guarantee a good show while perusing the shops on Pearl, and that day there was an excellent violinist along with a nine year old boy playing the fiddle!

They drew quite the crowd and were very impressive. We spent a couple hours shopping, stopping in several favorites, including Athleta, Prana, some local shops, and Free People.

After some shopping, we stopped in my favorite lunch spot in Boulder, Shine.

Oh, I love Shine!! Everything is organic, and most of it from local farms and establishments. Along with a Liberation beer, we had the ruby red trout over roasted vegetables and a roll with yam butter, which was sweetly delicious.

Yum.

After a few more stops, we came home, met my dad and Shane, and played a couple games of Euchre (all of which my dad and I won…ahem!) Niko couldn’t even bring them luck, as cute as she looked, smooshed up underneath our glass table.

Any time my parents come visit us, or Shane and I visit my parents, you can always guarantee we’ll play at least one game of euchre. It’s just what we do when we all get together. I think it’s a big Midwest card game, too, because Shane and I haven’t been able to find anyone who plays out here in Colorado! I’m usually my moms partner, but this week I was my dad’s, and like I said, we whooped some serious butt!

For dinner we went to Oskar Blues where I had a burger the size of my face, and some sweet potato fries.

OB is one of my fave restaurants, and I think everyone agreed the food was delicious!

Friday, their last full day here in Colorado, we had on the plan to go down to Morrison to see the Red Rocks, and then the short trip over to Golden to visit Coors Brewery. My dad’s always been a big fan of Coors beers, so I thought it’d be cool to see how it’s made (like Shane and I did here!) And, well, as far as Red Rocks go, they speak for themselves:

I’d love to go to a concert here this summer. John Mayer and Sublime are playing – as is Bruno Mars. I kinda hate most of BM’s songs, though…so he’d probably be out Smile with tongue out

pretty, pretty red rocks.

They loved it!

Good thing, because otherwise our trip would have been a waste. When we got to Coors brewery, the wait line for the shuttle bus was 2 HOURS. We all looked at each other, thinking the same thing – not worth it. Instead, we came back here and toured Oskar Blues brewery instead.

I’ve been on several brewery tours in Colorado, but they never get old. They do always seem to reignite my passion for beer, though!

That’s a lotta passion Winking smile

By this time, we were all pretty beat. Speaking beat, we played another couple hands of Euchre, where my dad and I beat my mom and Shane. Yet again Winking smile Then we all ordered and ate a bunch of pizza, and listened to the very first big thunderstorm we’ve had since moving to Colorado back in December! It was actually kind of awesome. I like thunderstorms a lot more when we don’t have them every other day like we did in Illinois.

Then this morning I taught boot camp, which my mom, and of course Shane, joined in on! And now I’ve got a BUNCH of work to catch up on. Have a good one, friends!

Do you play euchre?

Do you enjoy thunderstorms?
