Some thoughts and discussions from me.
Some thoughts and discussions from me.
Morning, friends.
Bah. I’m feeling a little glum today. Heidi left yesterday, and whenever I spend a couple days with someone close to me, and then have to part, I always feel like a cloud’s over my head for the next 24 hours.
I suppose I should focus on all of the wonderful memories we created over the long weekend instead, though, right?
Last night’s yoga class was much needed. I had a bunch of somewhat negative emotions swirling around as I walked over to the studio, and at first had a really hard time concentrating. In fact, for the entire first part of the class – where the instructor tells us to close our eyes and then talks about being in our body and breath – I thought about everything except yoga. When I caught myself not even hearing the instructor tell us to go from seated to down dog, I literally forced myself into the present and into my practice.
From then, it was literally like I vinyasa-ed, warrior-ed, and twisted everything out onto my mat. My mind felt clear as day afterward!
And then I came home to the first home cooked meal I’ve had since lunch on Friday:
Burgers, salads, and chips. Easy peasy.
Today I’m headed to the gym before teaching boot camp to get in my first formal workout since last Wednesday. I’ve hiked a lot and have gone to hot yoga, but haven’t gotten back to the weights in a while. I’m continuing my program of 2-3 full body workouts a week, and this week Shane is joining me! He recently started lifting again, so we’ll see how that goes. I’m sure I’ll remember that there was a reason we never worked out together haha
Although my workout’s rather boring today, I thought I’d share with you the workout I put my boot campers through Saturday and Monday. It involves cardio tabata (20:10 work:rest) with functional strength in between. And it requires nothing but your body and some space!
Have a lovely Tuesday!
How do you handle leaving those you love or those you love leaving you after a visit?
love me some tabata. I’ll try to come visit to take heidi’s place, k?

That would be tough for sure. I have never really had to deal with it much recently since all our family and friends live close. But when I loved away for a couple years due to school it was never fun, sometimes I would cry for my trip home a- about 3 hours. I just always tried to think of how much fun we had or look forward to the next visit.

Looks like an awesome workout Paige, thanks for sharing! I’ve been teaching some classes lately & this would be right up their alley! Hope you have a fab rest of the week.

Visitors leaving is the worst 🙁 I hate that part. I usually try to make sure I have another visit or trip home to look forward to so it doesn’t get me down as much.

I HATE saying goodbyes… I’m so bad with them sometimes I’d rather just avoid them. I always feel sad for a few days after my family leaves or I leave my family. It’s definitely one of the drawbacks from living far away from them!

At least your burger meal looks good:)
I’m sorry about the emotions happening, we all go through ups and downs though so it’s totally understandable!
Saying goodbye is always the hardest part.

It is always the worst when visitors you love leave 🙁 But, it looks like you had a fabulous time and got some good memories!

I’m going to feel the same way in a few days… my closest cousin is in town visiting for a couple of days. She’s been living in Bali for the last two years and I haven’t seen her since last June! We’ve always been close, every time she comes it’s like she never left… I love relationships like that! Hold on to those memories 🙂
Your dinner looks mighty delicious! Simple is so perfect sometimes.

Cheer up friend- you’re still stuck with ME! 🙂
And we’ll have a super fun time on Saturday.
I love your reflections on yoga- and again, reminds me of WHY I need to make it a regular part of my life.
PS- Great Tabata workout too!

YES! We are super pumped for Saturday 😀
Michelle and I were just discussing that we feel a little sad in a way after leaving our family. we are so close to our family so it is always hard for us to leave them. but yes focusing on the memories helps 🙂
we were also discussing that we need to do more tabata style workouts!!
