Some thoughts and discussions from me.
Good morning and happy Friday. I know I’m more than ready to start this weekend. To be honest, after a roller coaster of a day yesterday (hopefully I can fully explain soon) I am more than ready for a Friday evening cocktail or two.
So, I finally made it to the grocery store. No more bare cupboards Since I was at the store so late in the week anyway, I went ahead and did my meal planning for next week and got groceries for those meals, too.
Nowadays, I do my grocery shopping in two parts – the perishables and nonperishables. This week, I bought all of my perishables at Whole Foods.
Pretty good for $91 at the WF!
The second part – the nonperishables – I buy online, usually through Vitacost.com (you can get $10 off of their first order by clicking here!) I do this because a) it’s free shipping over $40 and b) it’s usually cheaper! However, I usually only do one or two big orders a month rather than every week.
This week’s order:
I think this was around $90 as well.
Using the groceries above, as well as some pantry staples, I put together the following meal plan (I just use a simple spreadsheet in Google Docs:)
Chicken sausage and veggies:
Orange chicken & broccoli w/ (jasmine) rice:
Beef stirfry:
Lamb & veggie curry:
As far as lunches go, I typically stick to the same thang: meals consist of lunch meat + avocado, canned fish + sweet potatoes, and leftovers. Breakfasts are typically either eggs, pumpkin coconut hot breakfast cereal, bacon, sausage, or leftovers. And snacks are usually a smaller version one of those. Either that or trail mix or coconut butter to the face
Do you meal plan? If so, what’s one meal that’s on the regular rotation?
We always rotate through spaghetti Bolognese or tacos
Such a great post! I love how organized you are with all of this! I would never think to buy my non perishables online but I bet it’s actually a huge time and money saver. I’ll have to remember this tip!

Meal planning has definitely made my life easier! I love coming home knowing exactly what I’m going to be making that night.
Tacos, lasagna and tuna melts are seen pretty frequently around here!

We have tacos and homemade pizza on heavy rotation- we also just started having Salad Sundays!
I sure do! I have to make pizza every other week to keep my husband happy, and we usually have a Mexican type meal at least one a week.

Love this post. I am excited to learn more about Vitacost. I have to travel 45 minutes to get to the nearest Earth Fare. I didn’t see the link for the $10 off, though. I may have missed it…
Thanks again for sharing!
I’m obsessed with meal planning and making my grocery lists ahead of time. When I first started I would always miss ingredients and wind up having to head back to the store (so annoying), but I’ve made sure to double check any recipes I’m using to make sure I have enough of everything! I know a lot of people bemoan the work of meal planning and list making, but I really enjoy it!
THIS IS SO INSPIRING! I don’t meal plan, but I find this very inspiring. However, I feel like I’d get overwhelmed from it all. Also, I’ve been really loving not following a plan and just eating whatever I crave, but ughhhh this looks like such a great idea! You’re amazing!

I suck at meal planning and prepping. I sometimes write grocery lists, but usually end up winging it and it fails each time. Ha, when will I finally learn this lesson 😉
I know it would make my life easier but for some reason I avoid it.
I usually just rely on big salads that are fast and easy to put together.
Have a great weekend!

While I AM a meal planner, I’ve been out of the habit since moving back home. But since I’m usually only cooking for 1, I eat a LOT of leftovers or garbage bowl (aka leftover veggie) salads. I don’t usually get super crazy except maybe once or twice a week.

I am THE WORST meal planner! I go and buy what I normally eat and figure out what to do with them after. Which many times leads to panic at the end of the day on what to make for dinner! I try and use up everything before I shop again (the perishables I mean), but I think I need to brush up on my planning skills for sure 😉

OMG I’m so hungry now haha
I go to the store almost every day (we have no big grocery stores near us, just little ones) so I don’t meal plan as much as I used to. I usually have a vague idea of what I’ll be eating during the upcoming week though!

I meal plan either once a week or every two weeks, depending on my schedule. I like that you buy some of your stuff in bulk on Vitacost, that’s actually a really good idea. If I started to plan ahead a little more, maybe I could get give that a try. 🙂

I did not see the link for the vitacost $10 friend promo. I have a shopping bag full of goodies. If you could please pass it along it would make my day (and yours for $10 =D ) Thanks and loving the posts! Keep up the positivity and energy!
woops – I forgot to link it. Here it is: https://www.vitacostrewards.com/i6JpmUC I’ll include it in the post, too 🙂
Thanks! 🙂
I might need to start doing my non-perishable shopping online! Great idea! I love meal planning. My go to dinners are definitely stir fry, easy bakes (veggie, grain, protein), breakfast for dinner, etc!

Awesome grocery haul. I never heard of Vitacost, but I’ll have to check that out!
You really make it appear really easy along with your presentation however I find this matter to be really
one thing which I think I would by no means understand.
It seems too complicated and extremely large for me. I’m taking a look forward for your subsequent publish, I will try to get the dangle of it!

Having read this I thought it was rather enlightening.
I appreciate you finding the time and energy to put
this content together. I once again find myself personally spending a lot of time
both reading and posting comments. But so what, it was still worth it!

I was curious if you ever considered changing the layout of your blog?
Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect
with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or
2 images. Maybe you could space it out better?
